ALLERGEN HANDLING PRACTICES

“Major Allergens” are defined as Milk, Soy, Wheat, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Egg
All of These Allergens are Present in Our Production Kitchen

1. Incidental and Unavoidable Cross-Contact During Regular Service

All ice cream scooping utensils are kept under a constant flow of running water in a “dipper well” when not in use, per Health Department requirements, which subjects the utensil to possible cross-contamination with all Major Allergens. Therefore, some trace amounts of any specific allergen may be present in any ice cream we scoop for you.

Dairy-Free frozen desserts have their own, separate “dipper well” so that they are not cross-contaminated by the dairy ice creams. None of the Major Allergens are present within the Dairy-Free serving cabinet, since we use none of the Major Allergens as an ingredient in any of the Dairy-Free frozen desserts. The sole exception is “Vanilla Cream,” which contains Soy, but is stored in a closed tub in a separate freezer and scooped using a fresh scooping utensil for every order. We maintain this flavor as an alternative since every other flavor contains Coconut.

2. Production Equipment Cross-Contact Practices

All ice creams and dairy-free frozen desserts are produced onsite using shared equipment and utensils, including our ice cream churning equipment. We take the following precautions to limit cross-contamination:

A. We wash and sanitize all equipment after use
B. Dairy-Free flavors are produced FIRST on any given production day, so that they are loaded into a cleaned and sanitized ice cream machine every time
C. Ice creams containing major allergens in the base mix (such as “Cookies & Cream”) introduce a Major Allergen into the ice cream machine itself and are produced LAST during any given production day such that the ice cream machine will never contain more than one Major Allergen PER DAY, with the exception of “Milk,” which is only relevant for Dairy-Free flavors as described above

3. Service Recommendations for Serious Allergies

In accordance with the allergy handling precautions detailed above, our best practice for accommodating serious allergies is to open a fresh tub of ice cream and scoop it using a separate, cleaned and sanitized, serving utensil, and a pair of fresh serving gloves.
